Editing Regional Coordinator Guide

=Between Elections=
Primary responsibility between elections is to prepare for the next election or by-election, recruit new members and identify opportunities in the region for the Party to become better known. 
*Organize Pub Nights in the Region and identify potential candidates.  Provide details to the Campaign Director
*Obtain contact information from interested people (Inquiries) and send it to the Party.  The Party willl send an information package with a membership application and a return envelope.  Follow up with new Inquiries.  
*Recruit someone to be the Chief Financial Officer for the candidates in the region. 
*Get quotes for signs and brochures from local vendors.  
*Watch for MPPs to resign (or otherwise leave their seat vacant) and prepare for a by-election.
*Consider creating one or more ''Electoral District Association''

=Lead up to Election=
Primary responsibility during elections is to run candidates in each of the ridings in the region. 
#Obtain the latest mailing list for the Region from the Party, and from the Libertarian Party of Canada.
#Contact the members who ran in the previous election (or by-election) and confirm they will run again.
#If you have vacant ridings, contact members in the riding and persuade them to run, if only as 'paper 'candidates, in their home riding or another vacant riding.  This will involve advising them of what needs to be done as a minimum and what additional activities they could engage in.  
#If a recruited candidate is not a voting member, advise them to complete the online membership application, print and sign it, and mail it to the Party with their membership fee.  Follow up to confirm they have done so. 
#Ask potential candidates to complete the online [http://ontariolibertarian.ca/sites/ontariolibertarian.ca.d6/files/Candidate_Application.pdf Candidate Application form], print and sign it, and send it to the Party.  
#Provide confirmed candidates with the names and contact info of other libertarians in the riding.  
#Follow up to confirm they have submitted their application(s).  Advise the Campaign Director.
#Encourage candidates to attend Caucus Meetings/Candidate Training Sessions.  Organize Training Sessions in the Region, possibly in conjunction with local Pub Nights. 
#When advised by the Campaign Director, provide candidates with the Nomination Forms and ask when they plan to collect signatures.  Provide advice on [[Collecting Signatures|how to do it]].  Provide Libertarian name tags and pamphlets to use while collecting signatures.  
#Follow up to confirm they have collected their signatures.  Get help for them if they need it (e.g. a flying squad).  
#When the Writ is dropped, call each candidate to confirm they have made an appointment with the Returning Officer.  Provide the RO contact information if necessary.  Follow up after their appointment to confirm their nomination has been accepted.  Advise the Campaign Director. The Campaign Director will ensure the Candidate is endorsed by the Party Leader and will send the candidate a completed C-1 Candidate Registration Form for his or her signature.  

=During Elections=
Provide advice and assistance to candidates as required.  Follow up at least once during the campaign with each candidate.  
*Did they get the requested brochures and signs?  Do they need more?  
*Have they received any media attention?  If it was negative, consult with the Campaign Director and/or Leader to determine if any response is required.  
*Assist them with any tough questions or get help from the Party.  

If a local organization sends out a survey to several of your candidates (with a promise to publish the responses) work with the candidates to prepare a response all of them can use.  (Each candidate should submit his or her version directly to the organization.)  The objective is to help any libertarian leaning members of the organization to discover us.  So, as always, it is important to endorse the objectives of the organization to improve the situation, but to discourage them from expecting that government will actually help.  If possible, explain how government has contributed to the problem, possibly by failing to protect property rights.
