In 202 Jeff Everingham prepared a document suggesting the objectives to be met by our administrative tools and a number of possibilities to meet them. This document will evolve as the EC (and other members with relevant experience) discusses them.
Please make your comments in the [Discussion] tab above.
There is a page, Online Tools, which includes both Marketing Tools and Administrative Tools. It has not been updated.
The purpose of this page is to provide for inputt to the Party's effort to determine a suitable selection of Administrative tools.
Problems to solve[edit]
- We need to be able to share our calendars
- Resilience planning / knowledge retention (i.e. if people leave, we don’t lose everything)
- We don’t have a good handle on our membership, and keeping data organized and accessible
- We need a good and easy way to strategize
- We need a way to allocate action items and follow up
- Need a way to track and assist people setting up CAs and registering candidates (i.e. maybe some kind of dashboard?)
- All roles and responsibilities need to be defined (some currently exist)
Concerns[edit]
- Costs
- Security / privacy
- Ease of use
- Ease of maintaining neutral subscription or transferring to another person
- Who has used it and why do they like it?
Potential New Tools[edit]
- Google Suite
- Microsoft Office / Teams
- Slack
- Trello
- Lucidchart
- Jira Software
- Miro
- Confluence
- Synology - might be more useful when we grow much larger (server based system)
- Azure Dev Ops (ADO) for huddle board - might be more useful in the future, overkill right now
- Discord (used this for candidate communication during 2019 election)
- Sync
Current Suite[edit]
- Email - Zimbra (free, generally works but has occasional outages)
- Website/email blasts/CRM: Nation Builder (annual fee paid end of August)
- Payment processors: Stripe (previously used Paypal, Authorize.net (monthly fee of 39.95 paid by party credit card)
- Domain names: Dreamhost (annual renewal in November)
- Server: - Linode (https://www.linode.com/ - paid on party credit card)
- Document Management: BaseCamp (paid monthly by Coreen for reimbursement by party)
- Meetings: Zoom (switched in Aug 2020 from UberConference - annual fee paid by Coreen for reimbursement)
- Trello - for activity planning
