Libertarian Implementation Strategy

However, if Libertarians were in a position to influence government policy and legislation, the following are some of the changes we would support.

Eliminate Corporate Welfare

• Including subsidies to political parties, grants to cultural organizations, conference centres, sports arenas.
• Eliminate Feed-In-Tariffs for solar and wind energy.
• It’s foolish to take money from taxpayers and give it to organizations that aren’t able to provide a product or service consumers are willing to buy.

• Who pays for tax credit incentives that buys votes at elections?

Sell Unused Properties

• [Need to provide examples, and estimated value?]
• Use proceeds to reduce provincial debt and interest charges
• Crown land shall be auctioned off to private parties in open public events.

Reduce Tax Rates

• Sweden reduced rates during the financial crisis and in 2011 had the fastest growth in Europe and was able to eliminate its deficit. (http://www.fcpp.org/publication.php/4208)

• What if Income Taxes were completely eliminated? What would earners and producers do with their income flows? They have three (3) basic choices; spend, hoard or invest.

Eliminate Marketing Boards

• Reduce costs of foods (e.g. milk price difference? NZ experience)

Eliminate most government Agencies, Boards and Commissions

• Bureaucrats interested in limiting competition.

Eliminate Government Monopolies

• High costs and poor quality – 19-week wait time for surgery, illiterate high school graduates
• Threat of total withdrawal of service thanks to single employer (e.g. teachers’ strike)
• Allow choices for consumers of education, medical services, alcohol, etc.
