Talk:Full Slate Money Bomb
The consensus from the meeting, was that July 1st, is "rushed". And the schedule is a bit drawn out.--Jeffrey McLarty 21:09, 25 June 2012 (EDT)
Relevant SMS Notes from the Meeting
- [8:44:47 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: Let's pick a single person, to represent "The Exec", when working with Rob.
- [8:44:58 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: ...we're getting into the technical details.
- [8:45:23 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: ...getting into the weeds, with 6 people on this call, like the dollar amount...blah
- [8:46:14 PM] rie: What exactly would it entail, Jeff? I want to help, but this time of year, I am crazy busy with work until Labor Day or so when it starts to slow down a bit.
- [8:47:54 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: Somebody to act, as a single point of contact, a liason, to make sure things like the "target", the "schedule", gathering the mailing list, what goes into each message, these are intricate details. The liason, would raise any big pictures to the exec, or, where they feel comfortable, handle the executive decisions themselves.
- [8:49:56 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: We can't possibly, discuss every pro and con, of every feature, and every decision, of this project. It needs a project manager.
- [8:50:42 PM] Jim McIntosh: Jeff - Are you the logical person to manage this project? - the single point of contact?
- [8:51:13 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: I suppose I am the logical person - but resource loading wise, something else would have to slip - if I take this on.
- [8:51:18 PM] rie: I know. Personally, I think we are making it more difficult than we should. Essentially if it is just writing copy and sending out e-mails, I can do that.
- [8:51:49 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: To be done right, it needs more though than that.
- [8:51:53 PM] GJ Hagenaars: Perhaps I can propose something
- [8:51:55 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: *thought.
- [8:52:15 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: I'm already behind, on the quiz cards, and the platform re-write.
- [8:52:19 PM] GJ Hagenaars: Suppose JS and I talk to Rob and figure out the amount of effort that needs to go into this, and we figure out who can be the EC liaison after that.
- [8:52:42 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: ...and I've got about 6, half hour phone calls to make, for recruiting purposes - I'm trying to schedule in.
- [8:52:53 PM] rie: I really feel that we should sent e-mail blasts often. I know you guys disagree, but the more they see our e-mails, the better. I write copy every week with new specials, products and incentives for clients. We do get people saying to take them off the list, but then we get people calling us up to buy. It is cheap and effective.
- [8:53:12 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: *phone call/in person meetings. (Sudbury, Waterloo, Cambridge)
- [8:53:13 PM] GJ Hagenaars: I agree with the increased frequency, Adam.
- [8:53:50 PM] GJ Hagenaars: I mentioned before the official part of the meeting started: the fed-cons are in fundraising mode ALL the time.
- [8:54:18 PM] rie: We only sell what we advertise. Look at successful companies and political parties, they advertise all the time.
- [8:55:29 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: Good idea Jim!
- [8:55:42 PM] GJ Hagenaars: excellent
- [8:55:48 PM] rie: We may lose people because it can become annoying. But you would be surprised how well it works.
- [8:56:46 PM] GJ Hagenaars: Repeating the same thing works very well.
- [8:56:52 PM] GJ Hagenaars: Ask any parent with a 3-year old.
- [8:57:04 PM] Matt Belanger: Jim: Can you post the link to the discussion page in here?
- [8:57:16 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: Matt, just look at the recent change list
- [8:57:39 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: ...as soon as the page is made, it will show up there.
- [8:57:44 PM] rie: I am more than happy to write copy and work with Rob depending on how much time is involved. LIke I said up until Labor Day, I am really pressed for time. After that, not bad.
- [8:58:05 PM] Jeffrey McLarty: Pick a SINGLE person, to be the point of contact, with Rob.
