The election committee submits the following document for the consideration of the Caucus, as the official 2013-2014 platform. The intent is to approve the material text portions of the document. Font, style, colours, grammar, spelling, meta/header information & included contact information is subject to change without notice. Supernumary documents are included below for discussion purposes and to illustrate intent of the current election committee. The following documents can only be finished if and when the document above is approved. They should be considered DRAFTS, which will be derivative works of the external platform.
All current members are eligible to vote. Our constitution indicates only the current Caucus must vote. However, with many electoral districts left to fill for the next election cycle, our Leader has declared any voting member an eligible candidate for caucus, therefore all members in good standing may vote.

Vote Results
The external platform has been accepted by the caucus. The polling results were recorded at 8:16 AM EST on January 28th, 2013.
25 (86%) for, 3 (10%) against, 1 (3%) abstain.
There were 29 votes since the poll was created on 20:02, 16 January 2013.

Background
Early in 2012, the election committee started a project dubbed the platform re-write. There were several motivations for this endeavor, mainly:
- Attempt to foster a collaborative environment internally.
- Identify and test technology to be used in future collaborations.
- Modernize our current communications
- Improve the quality, clarity, and professionalism of the party’s external communication.
- Create a document which could be used internally to guide candidates.
- Create a succinct message which could translate to different mediums for media & voters.
Deliverables
- An external document with a unified message for media & voters.
- An internal document for guiding new candidates.
Approach
- Early 2012 the election committee defined a framework and the planks.
- At the spring caucus meeting, input was solicited, and invites were provided to the wiki for further collaboration.
- At the fall AGM, a draft was unveiled. Invites were provided to the wiki, for further ocllaboration. A deadline for additional input was set 4 weeks after the AGM.
- The election committee refined the content, like an editor, and did the best they could to include as many opinions as possible.
Lessons learned
- During the last phase of the project, some input from members was made available, however it was past the deadline.
- E-mail was relied on too much, prior to the final stages of editing. This created re-work.
- There were indications people may have been intimidated or unaware that input was being sought on the wiki through the course of 2012.
- It is difficult to attempt to include many opinions when the feedback comes through different mediums (facebook, e-mail, verbal, word-of-mouth, hand-writing)
- There were two very involved editors for this version. For the 2014-2015 platform, it might be beneficial to extend this model to include, for instance 5 critics + 1 lead editor.
