Platform Printing Comments

I purchased a high-volume, small business printer a month ago. The ink (and paper) does cost money, but I'm sure I could do 500 for $450. Ie, lower than Jim's motion.

The printer is owned by a small business, which I'm only a partial owner of. So that company, would have to invoice for cash, and charge GST.

This printer I have, outputs amazing quality. I also know the difference between a 'high-quality' print job on matte or glossy paper. I could do a proof for, say Jim's approval, before I ran the 300 off. --JNMcLarty 11:08, 24 February 2012 (EST)

Jim, I noticed you changed the 300 to 500. Only reason I quoted what I did, for 300, was because I know that their cost includes some component of minimum wage labour. I can basically, save the party from paying that - by volunteering my time. So, I can beat it by at least $10.25 x 6. After I do the first run, the cost could prove lower (say, if I only used 15% of the ink in the cartridges). But, if it costs me two cartridges of ink, well, I'd be doing it at a loss. Quantity

How long will 500 last? Ironically, we could lower our cost, and probably do a more effective job, if we reduced the word/page count.

As you've seen in the planning stages, I do have plans for completing a far more brief version of our platform. It's one of the first things in the schedule for the next election campaign. --JNMcLarty 12:09, 25 February 2012 (EST)

Quizes

This company in San Francisco will do 1000, for $14, then its $20 in shipping to Canada. Front and back, full-color, high gloss both sides.

It's identical, to my business cards - if you've seen those. Everybody always asks me "How much did you spend on these?"...cause they look, really nice, high-quality.

Question Suggestions

After reviewing this, I am very comfortable with the quiz. That is a very good price as well. Also I know that there was some talk of preparing business cards for the Executive. I think that would be a great idea as well. Adam Hyde

This is link to original quiz: http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz The original does not have the SHOULD NOT at the top of a section for a reason, awkwardness. The sex question is awkward and the original: "There should be no laws regarding sex for consenting adults" works better. I think Jeff's tweaks are too large and too many and have not been tested. I don't remember where I read it, but the wording of the questions has been tested by The Advocates, below you see what they came up with. I would be inclined to make smaller changes geared to Canada but without deviating from the original idea. I do appreciate the effort to make the changes, but you see below, most can be avoided.

1. Government should not censor speech, press, media, or internet. <------- this one is fine as is
2. Military service should be voluntary. There should be no draft.  <------change to: Government should not use military force, except for the defense of Canada.
3. There should be no laws regarding sex for consenting adults.  <-------no change
4. Repeal laws prohibiting adult possession and use of drugs.  <------ no change
5. There should be no National ID card.   <------- no change

I agree with Allen on not straying too far from the original quiz. The original quiz has been well tested over the years with surprising (to me) accuracy. However, In giving the test over the last few years I get questions on questions 4 and 5 above.

Re 4) A lot of people don't know what it means to "repeal laws..." Can we chose more definitive wording like "Adult possesion and use of drugs is a personal matter, not for government to decide, certainly not a criminal act" Or more economical wording.

And Re: 5)Canada does not have a national ID card. We need a Canadian example. Maybe a firearms/guns question Should separate the Libertarians from the authoritarians.

Regarding SOCIAL issues, Governments SHOULD NOT:

3. Dictate sex between consenting adults.
4. Prohibit adult possession and use of drugs.
5. Dictate membership of private organizations.

Regarding ECONOMIC issues, Governments SHOULD NOT:

1. Give handouts to corporations.
2. Restrict international free trade.
3. Micro-manage people's retirement finances.
4. Discriminate between rich and poor.
5. Spend and tax as much as they do.

Mar 12 2013

After many phone calls, and considering everybody's input, this is what I'd like to roll to the presses. I really don't have too much more time to incorporate opinion-like changes, unless somebody feels really strongly. Please check for spelling and grammar.

I'm just going to make the quiz cards match, after somebody besides me says 'roll to the presses'.

Also, you'll see these files have bleed lines. The light pink border will definately be cut, the blue border is "recommended" to stay inside.
