Problem: Extrinsic Motivation

  • Volunteers are cat-like. Fickle. Unreliable.
  • Members can't see what the exec is working on. And, can't see who is putting in effort. Who isn't.
  • We make bad decisions, because we don't consider the true cost of our own time.

Proposed Solution: Motivation Bonds

  • 240 Month, inflation-linked, zero-coupon, 8% bonds
  • Volunteers submit monthly time-sheets, to Jeff to track.
    • Date
    • Task details
    • Hours spent
  • Regional Coordinators = $40/hour
  • Leader, Deputy Leader, Treasurer = $50/hour
  • Exec = $45/hour
  • Other Volunteers = $30/hour

Responsibilities

  • Campaign director to prepare reports.
  • Treasurer + Leader to approve (signatures only)

Timeline

  • Run for 6 months, then decide if it's worth continuing.

End Of Life Plan

  • Simply start declining the maturity, as finances start improving, until 100 years from now, we're paying salaries weekly.
