To Add a Newsletter (Bulletin)

  1. Go to Content - Add content - Book Page
  2. Enter Title as "Summer 2011, Vol. 31 No. 4" as appropriate.
  3. Check the box "Is this a Newsletter". This SHOULD create an entry on the News page.
  4. In the Body, enter a brief description of each article in the newsletter.
  5. Click on <File Attachments> and browse for the PDF version of the newsletter. It should be the version with underscores in place of blanks.
  6. Click on the [Upload] button to upload the PDF.
  7. Fill in the "Description" with Summer 2011 Bulletin as appropriate.
  8. Do not click on <Menu Settings>.
  9. Click on <Book Outline> and select <Create a new Book>
  10. [Preview]
  11. If it looks okay, [Save]

Add each article

  1. View the Newsletter
  2. Click on <Add Child Page> link below the newsletter description
  3. Enter the Title from the article.
  4. Do NOT check the box "Is this a Newsletter".
  5. Copy and paste the text of the article into the Body. It is best to click on the <Source> menu item at the top of the Body box and paste the text into the resulting box. Then click on [Update]. You may have to insert paragraph breaks.
  6. Leave <Menu Settings> blank.
  7. <Book Outline> should show the Newsletter title as the Book and the Parent. Enter a Weight to control the sequence of articles on the book menu. The first article should be 1, the second 2, etc.
  8. [Preview]
  9. If it looks okay, [Save]
  10. Click on <Up> to return to the main Book Page.

VRepeat for each article in the Newsletter

Add an image

  1. You may need to create a copy of the image on your PC
  2. While in Edit Mode, Position the cursor where you want the image, typically at the beginning of a paragraph.
  3. Click on the <image> icon
  4. If the desired image is on the Internet, click on it and skip the Upload instructions
  5. To upload a new image to the server;
  6. Click on the [Browse Server] button
  7. If the desired image is on your PC, then
    1. Click on the <Upload> link
    2. Click on [Choose File]
    3. Choose the size of thumbnail or leave all unchecked
    4. Click on the [Upload] button
  8. Click on the (newly uploaded) file
  9. Set the width or height (the ratio is locked unless you click on the lock icon)
    1. A width of 400-500 is usually appropriate for photos, 200 for clip art.
  10. Set the alignment (Right is recommended for most images)
    1. If you use "Left" or "Right", change the Html Option to "Full HTML"
  11. Click [OK]
  12. If you want to make any adjustment to the parameters right click on the image and select <Image Properties>

  1. Click on <Add Content > (in the top menu)
  2. Click on <News Item>
  3. In "Title" enter "Summer 2011 Bulletin now online" (as appropriate.)
  4. Under "News Type" select "Regular News".
  5. In the Body, copy the text from the Newsletter page
  6. Add links to the Newsletter ("See the online version here.") and to the PDF ("See the printable version here.")
  7. [Preview] and when it looks okay, [Save].
