By-elections 2012-09-06
Announcement on August 8/12
Good Afternoon,
Earlier today, August 8, 2012, writs of election were issued for by-elections to be held in the Electoral Districts of Kitchener-Waterloo and Vaughan. The by-elections will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
The Returning Officer for the by-election in Kitchener-Waterloo is Richard Findlay. His office is located at:
230 Regina Street North, Unit 1
Waterloo, ON N2J 3B5
The Returning Officer for the by-election in Vaughan is Al Ruggero. His office is located at:
4800 Highway 7, Unit 1,
Woodbridge, ON L4L 1H8
Please note that telephone lines have not as yet been installed and we will provide those numbers as soon as we can. They will be posted to the website when available. Please visit www.wemakevotingeasy.ca
These offices will be open to the public seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays (except during the advance poll period when they will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
The Elections Ontario website will have a section dedicated to information for candidates, political parties and constituency associations. All of the appropriate information is being prepared and will be posted no later than tomorrow.
Candidates’ Calendar: I have attached to this email an English and French copy of the candidates’ calendar for the by-elections. The calendar will also appear on our website.
Forms (including Nomination and Registration forms) will be made available on the website.
I would also like to highlight some of the key dates for the by-election, including:
Nominations -
- open on: Thursday, August 16, 2012 and
- close on: Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Candidate Endorsement: No later than Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Additional information on the endorsement process will be sent out later this week
